Service Description

What is Dance Movement Therapy (DMT)? Dance movement therapy (DMT) is the use of dance and movement to promote physical, emotional, cognitive, social, and cultural well-being. DMT involves movement to help individuals integrate their emotions, social interactions, cognitive abilities, promoting overall health and well-being. Like the mind, the body retains traumatic memories. DMT can help release traumatic memories imprinted in the mind and experienced in the body and nervous system. Through DMT, you can explore your inner feelings and sensations in a creative and safe space where you can be seen and heard without fear of judgement or pressure. Sarah (Sas) Cook, the director of Movement Zone Studio, is presently undergoing Dance Movement Therapy (DMT) training. She is providing 1:1 and group sessions to people of all ages. Depending on the individual's needs, DMT can be offered on a short-term or long-term basis. Prior experience in bodywork or movement is not necessary.
